Genes 25

Genes

Zeke: Yes, I know I could try to find someone of my own kind...
Adel: I'm not talking about your kind either. As I said, there are other options.
Zeke: I don't think I like the way this conversation is going.
Adel: Have you ever thought what would happen, if you combined your "special talent" with an extended lifespan and some other interesting features?
Zeke: Adel, you're supposed to be Ruby's friend. If that is the case, you will shut up right now.
Adel: All right, I will. But maybe you should think about what I said.

Genes 26

Genes

Ruby: There you are. Adel, Kermit would like to have a word with you.
Adel: I'll go and see him right away. It was nice talking to you, Zeke.
Zeke: I'm not so sure about that.
Ruby: Zeke? Is something wrong?

Genes 27

Genes

Zeke: Everything is fine. I just find Adel a bit confusing sometimes.
Ruby: Confusing? In what way?
Zeke: Never mind. Can we go now?
Ruby: Yes, let's go. I'm starving.

Genes 28

Genes

A little later:
Orlock: Adel...
Adel: Yes? What is it?
Orlock: I wasn't eavesdropping, but I happened to hear what you said to Zeke earlier.
Adel: That is none of your business.
Orlock: Maybe not, but I would like to point out that even though I have voluntarily stopped biting people, it does not mean that I am incapable of doing it.

Genes 29

Genes

Adel: I don't think I quite understand...
Orlock: Oh, I'm sure you do. There are things you should forget about, if you do not want any extra holes in that delicate neck of yours.
Adel: Are you threatening me?
Orlock: Me? Threatening? Where did you get that idea? I'm just concerned about your well-being.

Genes 30

Genes

Adel: I don't understand you. I had the impression that you love Ruby. Wouldn't you like to get Zeke out of the picture?
Orlock: Of course I love Ruby, but Zeke is the one who makes her happy. I want Ruby to be happy, she deserves it. And if you try to go between them, you deserve everything you're going to get.

Genes 31

Genes

Ruby: Hi, Mary. We were just passing by when I noticed you. Are you on your way to the theater? We can walk there together.
Mary: That would be nice. Could you wait a moment? There's something I need to do. It won't take long.
Ruby: Sure. What is it? Oh, her...

Genes 32

Genes

Kat: So, you're here again.
Mary: You too. You look well, all things considered.
Kat: You're living with the half-breed feline and you're friends with the mutt. What are you?
Mary: I guess you could say I have the potential of being your worst nightmare. You see, I have other friends too. For example, a little fellow with big teeth who has given up biting people, but would surely make an exception if I asked him to. Although, I'm sure he would find you in very bad taste.

Genes 33

Genes

Kat: Who's the redhead you were talking to?
Mary: A friend.
Kat: Another weirdo, huh?
Mary: You have no idea. - All right, let's cut to the chase. Are you going to leave me alone or not?
Kat: You're not worth the trouble. Just stay out of my way.

Genes 34

Genes

Zeke: How is she?
Mary: Well, considering the circumstances.
Ruby: Zeke, do you know her?
Zeke: We've met, although she wouldn't recognize me now.
Ruby: You mean...? What did you do?
Zeke: Don't worry about that. It was just a little favor for Mary and her family.
Mary: My family. That sounds so nice.

Genes 35

Genes

Mary: Did Ruby tell you that we went to see Splinter?
Zeke: Yes. I hear Riddick's going to take some lessons. I had no idea he needed any.
Mary: I think Splinter does things a bit differently and Riddick's interested in learning some of that. I'm going to train there too.
Zeke: That's easier to understand. You need it.
Mary: You think so? Riddick wasn't so keen on the idea at first, but then he said I could try.
Zeke: I'm sure you'll try your best.

Genes 36

Genes

Orlock: Ruby... there's something we need to talk about...
Ruby: You look so strange. Are you all right?
Orlock: I'm fine. It's just... What do you think about Adel?
Ruby: She's nice and I like her. She knows so much about everything. And she doesn't treat me as a small kid, although she could, given her age. I mean, I don't know exactly how old she is, but I got the impression that she's much older than Riddick. Why are you asking?

Genes 37

Genes

Orlock: I was just wondering... Do you think you can trust her?
Ruby: Trust? Sure, why not? Max, what are you trying to say?
Orlock: I'm not quite sure. Just forget it. It was nothing.
Ruby: You can't do that. First you're all cryptic and then you tell me to forget it. It's not fair.
Orlock: I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything.

Genes 38

Genes

Next morning:
Kitty: Why did you want to come here to talk with me? Is something wrong?
Zeke: I wanted to make sure there's no one else listening. Are you alone?
Kitty: Yes. Riddick's gone to work already and Mary is at school. You know, you're getting me all worried here. What's going on?
Zeke: I need your advice. Yesterday, I had the strangest conversation with Adel...

Genes 39

Genes

Kitty: Oh dear. I hope you didn't say anything to Ruby.
Zeke: Of course not. I wanted to ask you first. Should I tell her or is it better not to? She likes Adel and looks up to her. I can't tell her what Adel was suggesting, can I?
Kitty: No, you can't. At least, not yet. If Adel won't let it go, you may have to tell, but I think she's a bit more intelligent than Val.

Genes 40

Genes

Kitty: Is it true what she was saying? That you could have children of your own kind?
Zeke: I'm not sure. I think the odds would be a lot better, but it wouldn't be 100% sure. Anyway, it doesn't matter, because I'm not going to marry anyone just for the sake of having certain kind of children.
Kitty: I doubt that Adel was thinking about marriage.
Zeke: But surely she knows that we don't...
Kitty: I guess she thought you could be flexible with your principles.

Genes 41

Genes

Zeke: Kitty, you do know what her kind are like, don't you?
Kitty: I know something. Why do you ask?
Zeke: If she has started looking for a suitable father for her future children, she could become a real nuisance. Maybe you should warn Riddick.
Kitty: You think...? Yes, I guess a warning is in place, so he'll be prepared and won't be too rude to her. - You know, I had no idea she's that old.

Genes 42

Genes

Ruby: Kitty, is there something I should know about Adel?
Kitty: What makes you think so?
Ruby: Max was a bit strange yesterday. Asking whether I think I can trust Adel. He wouldn't ask without a reason.
Kitty: Didn't he tell you why he wanted to know?
Ruby: No. He told me to forget it. How can I forget? If there's something wrong about her, I want to know.
Kitty: Do you want me to talk with Max? I can do that, although I'm sure it's nothing.

Genes 43

Genes

Kitty: Max, what did you say to Ruby yesterday? About Adel?
Orlock: I just happened to hear something Adel said to Zeke. I didn't tell Ruby, but...
Kitty: So you know. Zeke told me about it. What did you do? Did you tell anyone?
Orlock: Just Adel. I... I told her that if she's trying to go between them, she's going to get some extra holes in her body. I guess that wasn't very nice, but...

Genes 44

Genes

Kitty: Max, you are wonderful.
Orlock: I am?
Kitty: Yes, you are. And if she doesn't leave Zeke alone, you are welcome to do just that. But don't go too far.
Orlock: About that... There's a little problem... I'm not sure I would be able to control myself very well after all this time. You see, it's an all or nothing issue. That's why I gave it up entirely.
Kitty: I understand. Let's hope Adel will come to her senses before it comes to that.

Genes 45

Genes

Kitty: There's something you should know about Adel.
Riddick: What about her?
Kitty: She has started to cause trouble...

Genes 46

Genes

Kitty: So, if she makes any indecent proposals to you, don't get too angry. It's just the way her kind are.
Riddick: You think she could?
Kitty: Zeke certainly thought so and I don't see any reason why she couldn't. She's not going to let minor details like wives or girlfriends bother her.
Riddick: Does Ruby know?
Kitty: No, and you're not telling her. She doesn't need to know. We'll take care that Adel will leave Zeke alone and Ruby won't get to know about any of it.

Genes 47

Genes

Riddick: And how do you suggest we do that?
Kitty: Well, Max has already started. He happened to hear what Adel said to Zeke and he told Adel to leave Zeke alone, if she doesn't want to acquire any extra holes in her body.
Riddick: Really? I had no idea Max would feel so strongly about it.
Kitty: He likes to see Ruby happy and he is not going to let Adel ruin it.
