Gaby: I thought you were the one who couldn't cook even if your life depended on it. Ruby: I was, not anymore. I've had a good teacher. Gaby: Schizo? Ruby: Oh no, he's even worse than I used to be. No, my teacher is a friend who's a chef. He just opened his own restaurant, actually. Gaby: You've gotten some interesting friends since you disappeared. Ruby: You have no idea. Gaby: About Schizo... now don't take this the wrong way, but... Ruby: I know what you're going to say. He may seem a bit strange, but he's really great and I love him. I hope you can understand that. Gaby: I'll try, but you must admit that he is odd. - So what was that lycanthrope thing? Ruby: They don't want to be called werewolves. It's a bit like calling felines "cats." Kids can get away with it, but if adults do it, it's rude. Gaby: Wait a second... You're talking like you think werewolves actually exist. Ruby: They exist. I don't want to talk about it, but I can tell you that they most certainly exist. Gaby:You must tell me. How can you be so sure? Ruby: Maybe one day, but not now. Gaby: All right, we'll leave it for now. There's something else I've been meaning to talk about with you anyway. I don't want any secrets between us, even though you may hate me after this. Ruby: Sounds really bad, although I'd never hate you. I may get angry at you at times, but I'd never hate you. Gaby: Let's hope so... Ruby, are you mad at the person responsible for your dad's death? Ruby: Not really. Why are you asking that? Gaby: Well, I fear that I may have said something... that I may have caused it. Ruby: You? How? Don't tell me you hired a contract killer. Gaby: Of course not. It's just that, you see, after you disappeared, Tim got some new friends, and they were really bad guys. Ruby: What's that got to do with my dad? Gaby: Well, Tim and I talked about you and I told him what I thought your dad might have done. And that robbery, the guys the police arrested for it, they were those new friends of his. Ruby: You think he asked them to do it? Gaby, even if he did, it's not your fault. You needed to talk to somebody and Tim is our friend. Gaby: That's a relief. I've been blaming myself ever since it happened. Ruby: Whoever killed my dad did me a favor, to tell you the truth. I don't need to be scared anymore. You don't know how wonderful that is. Gaby: Yes, I do. I can see it. You're so relaxed and happy. I've never seen you like this before. I must say I prefer the way you are now. Ruby: Did you ask Tim about it after the robbery? Gaby: I haven't seen him or heard from him. The cops asked a lot of questions about him, so I guess he was in it. He's not stupid, so he must have taken off after the other guys got caught. Ruby: I hope he wasn't the one who did it. For his sake. Gaby: Doesn't really matter which one of them did it, they're all equally guilty in the eyes of law. So let's just hope he'll stay away.
